What Scrub keeps, where it is, how long it stays and who else touches it.
What Scrub stores about you
- Your email address. If you sign in with Google, Microsoft or GitHub, your name and that account's id as well. Nothing else from them.
- Your workspace: its credit, its plan, its jobs, the options each job was run with and who in the workspace ran it.
- The files you upload and the results Scrub makes from them.
- The drafts and flows you save, and if you use Scrub's chat, the messages in it.
- Payments and plans: the amount, the date, the plan and when it renews, and Stripe's references. Never a card number.
- How you signed up: whether by Google, Microsoft, GitHub or email, and the campaign tags and referring site the sign-in address carried, if any.
The questions after signing up
After you first sign up, Scrub asks a few questions, one at a time: whether it is for work or personal use, what you want to get done first, what describes you best, and for work, how big your team is and what your company is called; then how you heard about Scrub, and whether you want product news. Every one is optional, and Skip all skips them. They are asked once.
They decide what Scrub builds next, which words and plans it puts in front of people, and where it looks for new people. They are kept with your workspace, and you can change or clear any of them in Account at any time. Product news is only sent if you tick its box, and the box, the time and the words beside it are kept as the record of your yes; unticking it in Account stops it.
Your answers, how you signed up and whether you want product news are copied, without your email address, name or company, to Scrub's reporting database in Google BigQuery (EU) to count them beside what is run. Your company stays in Scrub's own database only. The Terms are not changed by any of this.
Your browser also keeps one small cookie, scrub_way, holding only how you signed in last (Google, Microsoft, GitHub or email, never your address), so the sign-in page can show "Last used" beside it.
Scrub.app Ltd uses this to do the work you ask for and to bill for it, and keeps payment records because the law requires it. Nothing else, apart from counting visits as Analytics below describes.
Where it is and how long it stays
Scrub runs in Google Cloud's Belgium region (europe-west1), and your files, results and records are stored there. Transcribing, and all of Scrub's work that no outside service is named for below, runs on Scrub's own servers there. Work sent to an AI service below may be done outside the UK and the EU.
Uploaded files and results are deleted 90 days after they are made. Drafts and flows stay until you delete them. Account, job, chat and payment records are kept while your account exists and deleted when you ask for it to be closed, apart from what the law says must be kept for tax.
Who else sees it
- Google Cloud hosts Scrub, including the storage your files sit in, and handles sign-in with Google.
- Microsoft and GitHub handle sign-in with their accounts, if you choose one of them. Scrub asks each only for your name, your email address and the account's id.
- Amazon Web Services sends Scrub's emails, such as a sign-in link, through Amazon SES in Sweden (eu-north-1). It is given your email address and the message. Scrub's emails carry no tracking: their pictures and their font load from scrub.app, and Scrub keeps no record of who loads them.
- Google's Gemini API answers Scrub's chat and the assistant on its pages, which send it your messages and the results of the tools they call. It also does the work of Draft a video script, Text to speech, Voice a script, Generate an image, Generate music, Generate a video and Read documents into a table, and of any tool or flow that uses them, which send it what they are given: words, scripts, descriptions and documents. It is Google's paid service, and its terms say what it is sent is not used to improve Google's products. Google AI Studio keeps a log of these requests for Scrub for 55 days. The Gemini API has no region setting, so this work may be done outside the UK and the EU.
- Google Cloud Vision reads the text of each page given to Read documents as text. Scrub reaches it at Google's global address, so this may also be done outside the UK and the EU.
- OpenAI makes an image that Gemini will not, for Generate an image, through its API, which receives the words the image is made from. This is done in the United States.
- Stripe takes payments and runs plans. When your workspace is made, Stripe is given your email address, and your name if you signed in with Google, Microsoft or GitHub, so every payment you make is yours in one place. Your card details go to Stripe, not to Scrub.
- Google Analytics counts visits to this site and to the app, only if you allow it. See below.
Nobody else. Scrub does not sell your data, share it for advertising or train models on your files.
Analytics
The first time you visit, Scrub asks whether it may count your visit. Until you press Allow, nothing is sent to Google and no analytics cookie is set. Decline, and it stays that way.
If you allow it, Google Analytics sets its own cookies and sees which pages you open and how far you scroll, where you came from, roughly where you are and what browser you use, and four moments: joining the waiting list, signing up, starting a job and adding credit. Addresses are sent with the parts that identify a workspace, job or file taken out. Your files, your results, what you type and your email address are never sent. Advertising signals are off. Google keeps this for two months.
Your choice is kept for six months in a cookie named scrub_consent, for this site and the app alike. Change it here, or from Cookies at the foot of this site, at any time. From a yes to a no, nothing more is sent and Google's cookies are removed.
Your choices
A result goes after 90 days, or sooner if you ask. Your account closes when you ask. Write to hello@scrub.app for either, for a copy of what Scrub holds about you, or to have something corrected. If you are not happy with the answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, ico.org.uk.
